Dr Who Dreamland is a Web App that accompanied an animated series called Dreamland. The Dreamland web application is aimed at an audience of young adults and targets iPhone, iPod Touch, Nokia and Android devices.

Dreamland aired from Saturday 21st November 2009 behind the red button across the BBC TV network, the official Doctor Who website and the BBC iPlayer. It was broadcast in it's entirety on BBC 2 and BBC HD during the festive season.

The app was available via the Doctor Who mobile website and displayed a ‘comic’ version of Dreamland in daily episodes across the week. The comic was created with a bespoke comic creator tool that enabled BBC Producers to create and publish comics across multiple mobile devices.

The Dreamland mobile experience couples the feel of a traditional comic with the polish of iPhone to deliver a smooth journey through The Doctor’s latest adventure.

Our bespoke comic builder applications was use to create and publish new episodes of Dr Who across Android, iPhone and Nokia devices.

The Web App was driven by a powerful publishing tool that enabled BBC producers to generate episodic packages using pre-designed sequences of images. The publishing tool allowed producers to create flexible speech bubbles, thought bubbles and text blocks as well as applying simple animation and transitions to add that comic feel to their stories.

The whole product is easy to re-skin and re-deploy for new comics across different departments in the BBC. The Web App was made available on iPhone and iPod touch as well as Nokia 5800 and Android phones.
