The Science of Survival gives glimpses into the world of 2050 and explores how we will survive on a changing planet. The exhibition focuses on some of the most pressing issues facing us today, including global resources, climate change, and our options for a sustainable future.
We were invited by the Science Museum to work with them on the online component of the exhibition to create a concept and design for the website that met both the needs of the target audience and the exhibition sponsors HSBC, BASF and Nissan.
The website includes a rich interactive Flash game that enables the user to create and share content online. The interactive activity both supports and extends the content explored in the exhibition, offering something to both visitors of the exhibition and to those unable to attend.
The website & interactive activity support the exhibition as it tours different museums and locations worldwide so we needed to ensure that the content, design and interaction would remain relevant and engaging long after the exhibition had closed in London.
At the start of the exhibition you are met by Buz, Eco, Tek and Dug – your guides from the city of 2050 who have found a way to communicate with you from the future. These four provide advice on different ways to tackle the challenges ahead and live more sustainably.
All the decisions you make along the way are included in the Future City at the end of the exhibition. You see that we all make different choices based on our different priorities and that these will have major effects on the world of tomorrow.
